I wrote this song on a winter night at 2 am. I was feeling very alone, sad, and non existent, a feeling that comes at different levels often. Staying awake, I had to grab my guitar and play. I started with these chords and instantly sang what my heart felt, singing "God, I need you now more than ever before. I wanna see you now more than ever."
That was the prayer or conversation I was having with God in that moment. And the melody felt and sounded representing of my heart. After singing it over and over I knew it was the beginning of a new song. And I really wanted to express the deep sadness I felt. So the verses involve my thoughts and feelings of my lowest moments, which occurred heavily that night. It overall is a pretty sad and very personal song, but its also hopeful. I wanted the bridge to represent more positivity and the fact that even though I feel alone, I know that I'm not, and that God is there. I took from the verse of Psalm 40:17 to say, "I am poor. I'm in need. You're my deliverer, always with me."
